Biochar Pilot Project: The Results Are In

We're excited to announce the results of our 2022 Biochar Pilot Project. Between our three burn phases we were able to sequester 115+ tons of CO2eq and provide local timber and agriculture operations and with a unique soil amendment that provides many co-benefits.

Between machine built slash pile conservation burns at Galbraith Mountain, clean construction & demolition waste & agriculture kiln burns at Skagit Soils, and hand pile burns in the San Juan islands, we gained experience in a variety of biochar production situations and built strategic alliances to continue this work into the future. We have launched a Community Biochar Program, in partnership with local conservation districts, to continue building a regional biochar system.
