Miracle Food Network Report

In December of 2023, the Kulshan Carbon Trust teamed up with the Miracle Food Network to quantify the powerful link between food recovery and climate action. Did you know that food waste in the United States is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and food insecurity? Our mission was to explore if carbon markets could offer solutions to both challenges at once. Using cutting-edge carbon accounting methodologies, KCT conducted a thorough life cycle assessment of MFN. Our study revealed that diverting just 1 ton of food waste can slash CO2e emissions by 0.3 tons!  This means that food recovery not only helps our local communities but also benefits our planet's health. Huge kudos to the Miracle Food Network for their incredible efforts in the fight against food insecurity. Check out their amazing work at www.miraclefoodnetwork.org and join us in making a positive impact!
