Scale Up Project Update: Mar 1st

The Kulshan Carbon Trust is excited to share the latest strides we’ve made on our Biochar Scale-Up Project!

Composting Process

Skagit Soils has been hard at work creating an excellent product for our biochar enhanced compost field trials. Yesterday, Craig and the Skagit Soils crew dug out the first biochar-compost bunker and set moved the material to the windrow to cure. The team noticed that the biochar-enhanced compost was not only viably darker and finer, but that it was less densely compacted than traditional product. The team also noticed that the enhanced compost got up to temperature more quickly than normal compost.

Marketing

Kulshan Carbon Trust has been working to produce useful marketing material for the project and update our website to ensure information is easily accessible. Check out our new project page and grower interest page. Along with this, KCT now has a business phone number for communicating in a more traditional format. Give us a ring at 360-230-8035.

Grower Outreach

After sending flyers through the VivaFarms and Puget Sound Food Hub networks, KCT has started our individual outreach initiative. We’ve also been working to connect with farms through Instagram

Thank you for your support, look forward to serving you!
