As the seasons change, we’re entering an exciting time here at Kulshan Carbon Trust. Although we will certainly miss summer around the Salish Sea and in the North Cascade mountains, the KCT team is pleased to welcome autumn, knowing that the burn ban will be lifted and we can resume our community biochar demonstrations. Revitalizing Riparian Lands: A Vision of Hope and Action
Organizations around the Salish Sea are spearheading initiatives to rejuvenate riparian lands. This endeavor aims to restore ecological balance as well as inspire hope among our local communities. We have found that agroforestry in riparian areas is a beneficial land management strategy that offers a sustainable future.
Streamside Growth: The Value of Agroforestry
Around the Salish Sea, riparian zones are vital for biodiversity and watershed protection. Agroforestry, integrating trees, shrubs, and crops, transforms these areas into thriving ecosystems. This practice revitalizes habitats, sequesters carbon, reduces erosion, and filters pollutants, enhancing soil health with biochar.
